Queer Northshore Goes Hiking at the Bogue Chitto State Park

  • 17049 State Park Boulevard Franklinton, LA, 70438 United States (map)

Let's meet up to hike the 5 mile Gorge trail in Bogue Chitto State Park at 10 am. The plan is to park and meet at the Equine Center around 10 and then we'll head out on the trail by 10:30 once everyone arrives. Bring lunch for a stop somewhere along the route. Including the lunch break, it will probably take us about 3-4 hours to complete. There are restrooms at the equestrian parking area and one along the route. There is a water fountain at that midpoint to refill your water if needed.

There is a $3 fee for park entry. You can request a map when you check in at the front to help you find the Equine Center (map in comments as well).

Please note that this hike is a moderate difficulty and some folks may need rest and a more leisurely pace. We ask that everyone who attends be respectful of people of all fitness levels. As always, service animals are welcome! Send us a message if you would like to bring other well behaved 4 legged friends along.

Please bring enough water, lunch, sunscreen, bug spray, and whatever else you might need to be comfortable. Based on recent weather, the trail may be wet in places. Up to you if you want to bring a hiking stick. If you plan on attending this event please RSVP with Sarah Cook at events@queernorthshore.org by March 28th.
