The purpose of this event is to bring RESOURCES to our community. Homeownership is an EXCELLENT path to wealth-building. The wealth gap between home-owners and renters is astounding and 86% of LGBTQ+ renters feel that homeownership is absolutely out of reach and unaffordable. With rapidly rising rent prices and more loan programs geared toward first-time homebuyers, now may be the perfect time for you to start the process!

This is NOT just for folks who are high-income earners and perfect credit scores. This is ESPECIALLY for my queer siblings who need guidance based on their personal finances, credit history, or are cash earners and need clarity around how to make their income work for them! Our local lender Sommier Brooks Cline of Paramount Residential Mortgage Group will sit down with you one-on-one and go over your financials, do a soft pull on your credit, and let you know what loan program(s) will best suit your needs. If it's not the perfect time for you, Sommier will help guide you with a plan to get you on the path to homeownership.

Have legal questions? Need guidance around forms and legal documents? Need some support in regards to successions, powers of attorney, asset protection and estate planning? Meredith F. McDermott is the managing attorney at Bayou Title Uptown and is a life-long friend and ally of mine. She will be available to teach you how to navigate the legalities of property ownership and how to best protect yourself and your assets in any life event.

Insurance has been an incredibly difficult barrier for anyone in Louisiana, whether they're purchasing a home or already have one! Darian Cline of Goosehead Insurance will be onsite to help advise you on the best approach to affordable insurance and what things to consider during the process of owning a home.

And I will be onsite to answer any questions you may have about the home buying process, listing your home, what important things you should consider when shopping and SO much more. Whether it's in LA or MS, a mobile home or a mansion; whatever your needs are, my goal is to get you HOME!

As a lesbian living on the Northshore, I wanted to do something special for our Community this year for PRIDE. It has been a long, hard, exhausting few years and I feel like one tremendous way to establish ourselves in our local community is by owning the land we live on. Let's build wealth together. Let's establish ourselves in the neighborhoods we want to live and raise our children in. Let's work together to change the face of homeownership and pull up a chair to the table we all deserve a seat at. **PLEASE NOTE:: If you cannot make it to the event but have a need for these resources, please "purchase" a *Remote* ticket so that we can connect with you and help you at a time that's convenient for you!**
As the great American poet, Melissa Viviane Jefferson said, "It's about damn time!"
